Submitted by frasch on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 00:52.http://www.gehealthcare.com/usen/perinatal/clinical_ed/elecfetheart_mon....
Standardization of FHR pattern interpretation can greatly minimize inconsistencies and significantly impact practice, care and ultimately, patient outcomes.
About this Course
Developed by Frank Miller, MD and David Miller, MD this comprehensive and interactive program includes five courses to guide you through a standardized interpretation of FHR patterns.
Program Objective: The objective of this program is to familiarize nurses and physicians with standardized definitions for visual interpretation of electronic fetal heart rate monitoring patterns as proposed by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Research Planning Workshop in 1997 and endorsed by ACOG and AWHONN. This information will facilitate effective communication among members of the health care team.
* Standards as defined by NICHD
* Standardization supported in JCAHO: Sentinel Event Issue #30
* NICHD terminology endorsed by ACOG and AWHONN - May 2005

Submitted by frasch on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 00:50.http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices.
Today, TED is therefore best thought of as a global community. It's a community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who have just two things in common: they seek a deeper understanding of the world, and they hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us all.
