Knowledge Transfer Workshop Resources
The workshop on Knowledge Transfer on April 30th, 2007 was sponsored by two CIHR funded programs, the Strategic Training Initiative in Research in Reproductive Health Sciences (STIRRHS) in partnership with the Knowledge Translation-Improved Clinical Effectiveness through Behavioural Research Group (KT-ICEBERG).
On site in Ottawa, 130 persons from ten universities across the country and from government agencies participated: University of Alberta, University of Western Ontario, University of British Columbia, Université de Montréal, Université Laval, University of Toronto, Queen’s University, McMaster University, McGill University, University of Ottawa, Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), Health Canada, Canadian Institute for Health Information, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Seniors Health Research Transfer Network, Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, Cochrane Groups.
Ten other sites across the country also participated in the conference via videoconference: The Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (Edmonton and Calgary), the University of Manitoba: Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Toronto General Hospital, IWK Health Centre in Halifax, University of Northern British Columbia, Centre Universitaire de Sherbrooke. Aslo trainees from three CIHR Training Program participated: the CIHR Training Program in Rehabilitation Research, CIHR Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program, CIHR Core Facility and MFN Training Program The program was coordinated by Dr. Jeremy Gimshaw, Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Program, Ottawa Health Research Institute, Director of the Centre of best practices, Institute of Population Health, University of Ottawa and Director of Canadian Cochrane Network.
The scientific committee was: Dr. Jeremy Gimshaw Dr. Mark Walker, Professor, University of Ottawa, Dr William Fraser, Director od department of obstetrics and gynecology, Université de Montréal and Dr. Raymond Lambert, professor, Université Laval.

A Round Table Discussion led by Dr. Mark Walker, has finished the day on the question of Knowledge Transfer and applications in Reproductive Health Sciences Research. Participants enjoyed the day, conferences were greatly appreciated and the evaluation was very positive.
