Seminar on Trandisciplinarity report

A Seminar on Trandisciplinarity was held in Montreal on November 14 &15, 2008. Fifteen STIRRHS Trainees and four mentors participated. Dr. William Fisher presented the challenges and opportunities of Transdisciplinarity; Dr. Roger Pierson presented Transdisciplinarity in a biological research context; Dr. William Fraser presented Trandisciplinarity in a clinical research context. Dr. Jeff Nisker presented examples and results of a transdisciplinary research project.
Trainees worked in small groups to write transdisciplinary letters of intent that were evaluated by their peers.  read more »

Seminar on Leadersip

On May 30 & 31, 2008, a Seminar on Leadership was held at the Hampton Inn in Ottawa. Twenty STIRRHS trainees from fifteen universities across the country participated. Five leaders of our specialty gave a highly appreciated presentation on leadership: Dr. William Fraser, Dr. Mark Walker, Dr. Graeme Smith, Dr. Peter Leung and Dr. Michael Kramer were. The workshop on conflict resolution and negotiation within teams was very useful, and the workshop on types of personalities was very interesting and fun.

Grant Writing Skills Seminar Photos and Presentation

The Grant Writing Skills Seminar was held on Friday, November 30th , 2007 in Toronto, along with the annual meeting of the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology (APOG). Fifteen STIRRHS Trainees participated in the seminar, lead by Dr. Roger Pierson . Dr. Pierson made a very lively presentation of the grant evaluation process. He gave examples on ways to develop a research proposal and a budget. He also gave hints on how to write the publications and the candidate’s resume.
